Introduction
The Route of the Romanesque, created in 1998, is located in the Sousa, Douro and Tâmega valleys and includes 12 municipalities such as Castelo de Paiva, Lousada, Baião, Paços de Ferreira, Celorico de Basto and Marco de Canaveses. Recognized as a project with a historical and cultural legacy, the Route is anchored in a set of heritage assets of high value and exceptional particularities, which aim to make it a destination of choice for the Romanesque, bringing together a total of 58 monuments and 3 interpretation centers.
The Route of the Romanesque intervenes in areas that include scientific research, the dissemination of knowledge, heritage conservation, cultural promotion, heritage education and, finally, tourism promotion.
